- 1 pkg filo thawed
- 2 onions chopped
- 2 cubenelle peppers chopped
- 2 tomatoes
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- I use pickled cabbage from the jar take 1 roll and cut up
- I buy the jar of pickled cabbage
Saute onions and peppers until tender, add ground meat, break up into chunks, cook till no longer pink. Add tomatoes cook until all is soft and tender. Season with paprika salt and pepper.
Method 1: use of melted butter and oil 1/4 cup of each and combine
If your using method 1 brush every 2 layer with it and add a few tbsp of the filling along the filo and roll and wrap(like a cigar) add to greased pan and shape into a swirl continue in the same fashion keep making circles. Then brush with remaining oil/butter mixture, if you run out melt some butter and mix with oil and spread on top. Bake at 375 till golden brown takes about 45 mins.
Method 2:
1/2 cup milk,1/2 cup oil and 2-3 eggs mix well together.
Again use every two layers, spread 1 tbsp of mixture around, add a few tbsp of filling along and roll and wrap( like a cigar) and place on greased pan, continue in the same fashion keep making into a circle, pour over the egg mixture. Let it soak for 5 mins. Bake in oven till golden about 45 mins.
I made the meat version. LOVED it!!!! Whole family gobbled it up, and it reheats very well. I didn't use any cabbage in it (or red peppers), and it was still super yummy! Served with yogurt & salad on the side.
