For years I have added a dash of pumpkin spice in my coffee while its in the filter, so when the coffee is brewing the aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves fill the air, coffee tastes great too! Grew up on lattes not even knowing they were called lattes, mom always called it qumesht me cafe meaning milk with coffee in Albanian, adding the pumpkin is the new addition in my house, obviously I only make it when I have pumpkin puree on hand, which lucky for me is all autumn long.
When making lattes there really isn’t any measuring, its all on how much you want to make, as well as how sweet or how much coffee you like in it. When I make it, I just add ingredients, taste and adjust as I go along till I am satisfied with it.
I make it with either Turkish coffee, regular coffee or instant coffee, it all depends on what you have on hand and what ever you feel like making, honestly if you are making it for yourself I would just use instant coffee, as you will only need a teaspoon worth. Turkish coffee is a strong coffee like espresso so you wont need a lot to get that coffee flavour, where as if you use regular brewed coffee it is not concentrated enough and it will dilute your latte.
I have a milk frother which is nice to get the milk all frothy like you would get at a coffee shop, if you do not have one that is fine too.
What you will need for 2 servings:
- 2 cups milk
- 1 heaping teaspoon of pumpkin puree
- cinnamon
- pumpkin spice
- 1 tsp instant coffee or 1-2 shots of turkish/espresso coffee
- sugar
- whipped cream
Heat milk in a small pot, add in the pumpkin, stir in the coffee, add a dash of each cinnamon and pumpkin spice. Sweeten with a little sugar, taste and adjust with more sugar or cinnamon or pumpkin spice or even more coffee if desired, taste as you go along till you are satisfied with it.
Once milk is heated, remove from heat and if you have a frother this is the time you would use it. You may spoon over the whipped cream or use a freezer bag with a cut slit in the corner or if you have a pastry bag swirl on some whipped cream and sprinkle with a little cinnamon and pumpkin spice. Enjoy!
Well that pumpkin spice latte looks so delicious. I want some.
