Muhallebi is a Turkish rice pudding dessert, you can make it with biscuits, fruit or enjoy on its own! You can garnish with anything you like. I usually garnish it in three parts, one part with cinnamon, the next with ground pistachios, and the last with cocoa, everyone in the family gets their favourite!:)
Its one of my sons favourite desserts! Its really simple to make too!
What you will need:
- 5 cups milk
- 1/2 cup rice flour
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup sugar*
- 1 packet Dr.Oetker vanilla sugar
- 1 -330 gr bag of tea biscuits like Ulker tea biscuits or Maria biscuits
In a pot add pudding ingredients, whisk altogether. Cook on low heat stirring with whisk off and on so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of pot, just like when making custard.
You can make this and serve on its own in a dessert bowl or layer it with biscuits like Maria or Ulker cookies. In a 9 x 13 inch pan lay a layer of cookies spoon over some of the cooked pudding over the cookies, continue to layer with cookies and pudding, end with pudding. Refrigerate for 4 hours or over night to set.
*I use 1 cup of sugar as that is my preference, you may cut it down to your desired amount.
