This post transports me back in time…..my grandparents and I every Saturday morning would walk to the market, then we would go to the candy shop, and every time I would get a pink ball of popcorn. I loved that candy shop, those popcorn balls were the best, and the fudge oh my goodness.
I made the candy for the popcorn into different colours, which is more work, as seen in the pictures you have to divide the popcorn in different bowls, and make different colours and work fast as the sugar hardens fast.
What you will need:
- 1 &1/2 cup popcorn kernels popped in a pan or popcorn machine (follow instructions on bag or jar)
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- Food coloring
Cook sugar and water to the hard crack stage. Takes about 20-25 mins.
Add your food coloring and pour over popped corn and mix immediately as sugar sets and gets hard fast.
I used Wilton food colouring gels, 1 small dip with a tooth pick is all it needed for each colour.
Next time I make this it will be in 1 or 2 colours, as this way is too much work!
* You can shape them into balls and wrap them up for gifts:)
Here’s a tip! If your planning a party, make the popcorn in the themed colours to match!
OMG this looks great! i really wanna try this!
