This is a Turkish recipe that we fell in love with a few months back. My husband’s cousin taught me how to make it, of course I put my spin to it, and it tastes amazing! It is really simple to make, served with rice and salad it makes the perfect dinner.
Here is the link to the video tutorial on YouTube—> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n-PhULSMV4
What you will need for meatballs:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 or 1/3 cup #1 bulgur
- 2 tbsp red pepper paste
- 1 heaping tbsp tomato paste
- 1 small finely chopped onion
- salt and pepper
What you will need for the sauce:
- 1-2 tbsp red pepper paste
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp paprika
- approx 2 cups water
- salt to season
- olive oil
If you cannot find pepper paste you can just use a good quality tomato paste.
For the meatballs, combine ingredients and shape into small balls.
Prepare the sauce in a shallow pan or in a large pot. Bring to a boil and add meatballs into the sauce. Cook on medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
Sometimes I add more water, in that case I just add a little more bulgur to the sauce, that helps thicken it up.
Taste and adjust as you go. The video does help to show you how to make it, hope you enjoy!
