This is my favourite way of making chocolate cake trifle. It’s definitely a favourite among my friends and family. Perfect for a potluck or if you’re expecting guests.
What you will need:
- 1 devils food cake mix or homemade chocolate cake
- 1 box vanilla instant pudding
- 1 box chocolate instant pudding
- 1 tub cool whip, thawed
- 1 can condensed milk
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup water*
- 4 to 6 skor chocolate bars broken up
If you are using a chocolate cake mix, use coffee instead of water, as it adds flavour since water is flavourless.
You can make this with two 8 inch cake pans or bake it in a 13 x 9 inch pan and cut up the cake in 1 inch size pieces.
When cake is done baking, completely cool before assembling. Prepare both the chocolate and vanilla pudding mixes in separate bowls. To each bowl add 1/2 of the can of condensed milk along with 1 cup milk and 1/2 cup water, and whisk until well blended and smooth. You may use a pastry bag or spoon for the puddings and whip cream. Layer the cake and puddings and whip cream, top with the remaining pudding and whip cream. Add skor bits in layers and as garnish for the top, or if you are using two 8 inch cakes add half the skor bits on one layer and the other half for the top part.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
*You can use milk instead of water, the water thins it out a bit more than milk.
