Its summer time! Summer drinks are here, I did not always like lemonade but I have grown to love it! I think as a kid I found it way to sour. I didn’t even like lemons in general and now I have to have lemons in my kitchen all the time! Isn’t if funny how our tastes buds change over the years!
Cold watermelon is the best on a hot summers day. What is even better is drinking it…cools you right off! Just ask my hubby…he was working real hard in the yard the other day and I surprised him with one of these drinks. The combination of lemon & watermelon is wonderful!
As for the strawberry lemonade….my son attacked it, he gulped that down so fast! They were both so good, the strawberries were a bit sour so I had to add more sugar to it, in fact I added Organic honey to it as well. This is the reason I do not specify on amounts of sugar and honey as it all depends on your preference and how sweet your fruit or how sour is your lemons.
I would start at a spoon at a time and go from there. I made both the watermelon and strawberry juices with my juicer, boy did it make a lot of juice! If you don’t have a juicer, use can use your blender.
Before I ever cut into any melon I put it in the sink and wash it with soap and water…helps prevent any bacteria that is possibly on the outer surface from entering the flesh of the melon when cutting into.
What you will need for watermelon lemonade:
- 1/2 large watermelon
- 5-6 lemons
- Organic cane sugar or Honey
- 7-9 ice cubes
Juice watermelon, and squeeze juice out from lemon, combine in pitcher. Add in ice cubes and sugar a spoon at a time. Stir in blender, I use my hand blender, the ice makes it cold and frothy. Taste and adjust sweetness. Enjoy:)
