I made a vanilla cake in a rectangular pan, you can make your own recipe, or from cake mix. I used Smucker’s pure strawberry jam and Bird’s custard.
For the custard, the label reads for 2 and 1/2 cups milk you need 3 tbsp of custard and 3 tbsp sugar, I found that the custard was still too liquidy, so I added another tbsp. ( next time I will make 3 1/2 cups milk and 5 tbsp custard powder and sugar ) when the cake cooled down I took some of the jam about 2-3 tbsp and spread evenly onto cake.
Then poured over the custard. Let cool for about 1 hour, custard will set. Spoon or drizzle some more jam, and cover with a layer of cool whip or whip cream. This cake is so moist and delicious. You will love it!
