In Turkish its called Cacik pronounced ‘gagik’, in Albanian its called tarator, and in Greek its called tzatziki, in what ever language you wanna call it….it’s delicious! I make a variety of tarators every week, we like to have some kind of veggie and yogurt with our dinner.
This goes well with many dishes and even on it’s own with bread.
What you will need:
- 1 large peeled cucumber
- 2-3 cloves of grated or crushed garlic
- 1 tbsp fresh chopped mint
- 1 tsp dried mint
- 1 tsp fresh chopped dill
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 3 to 3 and 1/2 cups of home made yogurt or store bought plain Balkan or 3 % yogurt
- salt to season
Shred cucumber, squeeze out the juices from the cucumber , otherwise it will make the yogurt watery, unless you want it watery, then don’t. Mix all ingredients adjust seasoning. Enjoy!
You may add more dill or mint, I actually don’t measure that part.
Masha'Allah I love all the photos and the colours! I'm definitely gonna make this soon! 🙂
