Since I probably will not be going away to the Caribbean any time soon, I brought the caribbean to me…in form of a cake:)
I was in the fruit section at my local grocery store, while I was there I noticed star fruits. Never have I tried it, but I was inspired to make use of it. Its tart, not sweet and no flavour to it really, not sure if I got a bad one, but the girl that worked there said that its ripe and ready to eat when yellow. Oh well it makes a pretty garnish, and possibly good in a punch. The strawberries are organic and smell amazing!
I made a cake from a cake mix, real simple! Took one can of white fluffy frosting, 3/4 of a tub of cool whip mixed that together and used that as the icing.
Cut the star fruit, and shaped the strawberries into rose shape, cut a pineapple with a cookie cutter, and with some wafers decorated the cake. Really simple to make, and looks great!
