I scream…you scream….we all scream for ice cream! Finally that is the case now! I made an ice cream this weekend that we all can scream over!;) My kids loved it! I personally thought it was better than any store brand that I have ever tried! I know why, I made it with heavy cream….what a difference it makes when making ice cream!
I found organic heavy cream while on our shopping trip to the States! I found so many organic items….including a 10lb bag of organic sugar yay! Can’t wait for our next organic shopping adventure!
I have made this ice cream with out the mashed strawberries, just adding the jam near the end and its really good as well! You can make it with or without the fresh berries!
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 3/4 cup 3.25% milk
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 vanilla bean
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3-4 tbsp of strawberry jam
- 1 cup mashed strawberries
Cut the vanilla bean in half, and slit the one half with a butter knife scrape the inside and add to the cream along with the pod. Combine heavy cream, milk, sugar, salt, vanilla and mashed strawberries till well blended. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Follow instructions on your ice cream maker for making ice cream. For mine I have to have the bowl frozen for 24 hours, before using.
Takes about 20 minute of turning, before it forms into ice cream. In the last 5 minutes add the strawberry jam. Remove from bowl and transfer to freezer safe container. Freeze for 1 to 2 hours before serving. Enjoy!
This is so pretty! My son loves strawberry ice cream so I may have to make him a treat soon! Love the idea of using jam in it! Pinned.
