This sauce turned out amazing that I had to share it! The tomato sauce is my homemade-tomato-sauce with ground beef and veggies. It turned out so delicious! I think I know why….I had some extra filling (I used a cups worth) from my veggie pide, and cooked it up with the mushrooms, the fact that it was in the fridge for 2 days made it taste so much better, all the spices and flavours infused in the veggies.
My son said ‘wow mom this tastes really good, what did you do differently?’ I told him it was all homemade!:)
If you want add the seasonings that are in this recipe veggie-cheese-pide or just use the veggies as is…but to tell you the truth that was the secret that made it taste amazing! Just chop all veggies up and mix in the seasonings, just us less amount of the seasonings with oil.
What you will need:
- 1/2 lb ground beef*
- 1 onion
- 1/2 red pepper or 1/2 cup of chopped up roasted red peppers
- 1/2 green pepper
- mushrooms
- 1 tomato
- 3-5 cups homemade-tomato-sauce *
Slice mushrooms and chop all veggies. Saute mushrooms, add in the other veggies in olive oil and cook till tender. Add in ground beef and break up into small chunks. Add in tomato sauce, simmer and cook on low heat for about 30 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
Serve with spaghetti and enjoy!:)
*I get my ground beef from the butcher and it has no fat in it, if your ground beef does have fat, I would recommend cooking it separately and draining the fat and then add to the veggies
*If you don’t have homemade tomato sauce, canned diced tomatoes will do fine, just blend them with a hand held blender or blender.
Tried this as well, it was full of flavour…so fresh tasting and delicious!
