Tis the season of peppermint candies, hot cocoa and cold gloomy days! Nothing better to cheer and warm you right up like a nice hot cup of peppermint hot cocoa…freshly made in your kitchen! No waiting in line at the coffee shop, plus you save money making your own beverages at home!
My daughter Sara and I LOVE hot cocoa, we like to make it every weekend, and we enjoy every sip! We made it a little different today, we added some mint chocolate chips to the milk along with the cocoa, plus crushed up peppermint candy canes! Mmmm it was so yummy!
What you will need:
- 2 cups milk
- 1 heaping tbsp dark cocoa
- 1 tbsp of mint chocolate chips
- 1 tsp crushed candy cane
- Whipping cream
- Sugar to sweeten
In a 2 qt sauce pan, whisk the sugar, cocoa and milk stir until cocoa and sugar is blended well. Heat till milk is hot, but do not bring it to a boil. Stir in chocolate chips.
Whip the whipping cream, add a spoon of icing sugar to sweeten.
Pour cocoa in a cup and top with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candy. Enjoy!
