One of my favourite summer treats is chocolate fudgesicles! I was at the grocery store looking to buy some and noticed the first ingredient was ‘modified milk ingredients’ I placed it back in the freezer and thought I have to look up what that means exactly.
Well it turns out that modified milk ingredients doesn’t necessarily mean its made from milk, but products that was initially part of milk, e.g. milk by-products! Why can’t things be simple? Well cause its cheaper to use by-products than cream and milk that’s why!
So I put it upon myself to make my own fudgesicles, they turned out delicious! At first I thought how to go about it, the texture from a chocolate popsicle is different from a fudgesicle. You can make either with this recipe.
I took my mixture and placed it in the ice cream machine and so it became creamy and just the texture I was looking for. If you don’t have a ice cream machine, it won’t become creamy, it will be more like a popsicle which is good too!
You can make it with a mixture of half and half cream and milk, or just use half and half for a really creamy texture, or if your looking to cut down calories just use milk.
What you will need:
- 2 cups half and half cream
- 1 cup 3.25% milk
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 dark cocoa
- 1/4 cup or 3 heaping tablespoons Nutella
- 1 tsp instant coffee
- 6 popsicle molds
what is 3.25% milk? can I use 2% milk??
