We love our bureks! I surprised my family with these lovely little ones this past weekend, they make a great appetizer.
What you will need:
- 1 thawed pkg filo
- 1 lb spinach
- 1 cup crumbled up feta cheese
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper
- 3 green onions
- softened butter to brush tops
For egg wash:
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup olive oil or melted butter
Rinse and dry the spinach well, using a salad spinner or paper towel.
Chop the green onion and mix in with the spinach, feta and egg. Season with salt and pepper keep in mind that feta is a salty cheese.
Fold each sheet of filo in half, with pastry brush spread egg wash to filo and spread a few spoons of spinach across the filo and tightly roll.
Place on a greased baking sheet and roll into a swirl. Spread some softened butter with pastry brush on top of bureks for a crispy golden filo.
Bake at 350 for 45 to 55 mins till golden.
