This recipe is a family favourite, not only my family but with my friends as well:)
This dish is made in one pan, yes one pan, talk about easy clean up! I came up with this when my kids were younger, it was quick, economical, and healthy. You can use more meat if you are big meat eaters, and use more veggies.
Depending on how many people your cooking for, makes the difference in the amount you make. This recipe is good for about four servings. For the steak I use top sirloin, any tender meat will do, depending on how much meat you want, if you want more add more, likewise for the veggies.
You can use any kind of pepper you have, you can use red or white onion.
- 1-2 pieces of sirloin steak (enough for 4 servings)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 green red pepper
- 1 onion
- 1- 8 oz container of mushrooms
- 3-4 medium size yellow flesh potatoes such as Yukon Gold
Seasoning for Steak:
- 1-2 tbsp Montreal steak spice or steak spice
- few spoons of soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil
Cut steak into cubes, marinate steak for 1/2 hour.
Seasoning for Potatoes:
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp seasoning salt
- 1 tsp Montreal steak spice
Seasoning for peppers and onions:
- 1/2 tsp Montreal steak spice
- 1/4 tsp salt
First cut your onion, and both peppers. Add to hot pan with 3-4 tablespoon olive oil, cook until tender season with the Montreal steak spice and salt , while the peppers and onions are cooking, prepare the potatoes.
Peel and cut potatoes to small bite size pieces (cooks faster if they’re small). Remove the peppers and onions when done cooking (add peppers to serving plate), add the potatoes to the same pan. There is left over oil so no need to add more, you may drain the extra oil from peppers if need be and add that to the potatoes.
Toss potatoes for even cooking, season with the seasons listed, and cover with lid, near the end the potatoes may look like they need more cooking, don’t add oil, add less then a 1/4 cup of water, cover with lid, and within a couple minutes potatoes will be done.
Remove potatoes, add on top of the peppers, now add the steak to pan. Cook steak, add on top of potatoes.
Add the sliced mushrooms to the hot pan, you may want to add 1 tsp of butter to the pan, cook mushrooms and when done that to the top as last layer .
This recipe was so easy to make and DELICIOUS! Im not a meat eater, but I can see myself make this meal at least once a week. Entire family loved it 🙂
