What you will need:
- Kataifi shredded
- 1-2 cups ground walnuts
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/4 cup canola oil
Thaw pkg of kataifi, melt 1/2 stick butter and mix with 1/4 cup canola oil. Part the kataif in 3 parts with your hands.
Lay walnuts across the kataif and roll place into greased pie pan in circular motion, or straight on a rectangular pan.
Spread over the melted butter over the kataif. Bake at 350 till golden.
The time vary’s if you like your kataifi very brown or light. Could take 40-50 mins.
Pour over read made syrup . Sprinkle ground pistachios or walnuts if you like.
Just like making baklava the syrup needs to be cool before adding to kataifi, * make the syrup ahead of time and become room temp*
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
Bring to boil for 15 mins till thickened. Add a squeeze of lemon juice.
