I have been wanting to try this every since Alice from allyskitchen posted it! I never tried zataar in soup before but I love zaatar and thought it would taste good! I was right! It tasted really good! Thanks Ally for the inspiration!:)
This my adaptation of zahtar-chicken-soup.
- Chicken pieces or bones for broth
- 1 carrot
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 cup chopped Swiss chard
- 1/4 cup peas
- 1 tbsp Zaatar
- Dash of Turmeric
- Salt to season
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 egg
Bring the chicken to boil in a large pot season with salt, let simmer till chicken is cooked. Strain and transfer to a clean 2 or 4 qt pot. De-bone chicken and cut up in small pieces, slice carrots. Add back to soup. Add in the swiss chard and peas and dash of turmeric, simmer on low heat till veggies cook.
Whisk the yogurt, egg and flour in a measuring cup, temper it with some soup, and whisk in the soup quickly. Cook for another minute, remove from heat. Check for seasoning and adjust if need be. Enjoy!
