Carrot tarator is delicious and healthy, it’s a carrot version of the cucumber tarator commonly known as tzatziki. I love this stuff! You can eat it alone with bread, or as a side with a barbecue dinner or anything you may think it goes well with. …

Bulgur and Parsley Salad
This is my sons favourite non lettuce type of salad, it’s nutritious and delicious! I make it every week, and it lasts a few days, great snack or lunch food! …
Cheese and Tomato Pide
We love our pides! I have a variety of recipes for them on the blog, and this one is simply made with tomatoes, cheese, and peppers.
You can use whatever pepper you have on hand, you can also just make it with cheese. For this pide, you will need Spanish or Chicago cheese found at Middle Eastern or Mediterranean stores. If you can’t get your hands on it, you can use mozzarella (or bocconcini) or a white cheese that is squeaky and salty, that is the best way to describe it. …
Bulgur and Lentil Salad
This is a light and tasty salad, perfect for a summers day picnic or lunch food! I don’t really measure when I make foods like this, I just throw stuff in a pot and cook it! Its really simple and you cannot go wrong with a recipe like this. …
Bok Choy with Whole Wheat Pasta
This has become one of my favourite dishes, its full of flavour and is easy to make. You can add a little more oil if you find it dry, I cannot have a lot so I use very little when cooking. …
Turlu
My first post of the new year! Turlu is basically the Balkan version of Ratatouille. I have other versions of turlu posted on the blog, they are all different recipes, this one is vegetarian and is such a delicious and comforting dish…especially in this cold frigid weather! …
Orzo with Veggies
This is just one of those dishes that is easy to make and tastes great! I use frozen organic broccoli for this as the fresh broccoli is too expensive, $5 for one bunch! Sometimes its $3.99 but even that costs too much for one small bunch of broccoli, the frozen is convenient as well, I can use how much I want and when ever I need it. You can use fresh if you have it. Another good thing about using frozen broccoli is you can grate it, and it will be hidden, the kids will never know!…
Potato & Corn Patties
Has this ever happened to you? You have a big dinner and you end up with leftover mashed potatoes and sides? I usually end up with leftover corn or peas or both combined. Here is a great way to make use of the leftovers and have a whole new side dish for dinner! …
Scalloped Potatoes with Leek
Tired of the same old mashed potato as a side dish? I got just the thing for you! I love these scalloped potatoes, its easy to make and its so yummy! Its always a hit at my dinner parties, everyone loves it!
Leeks usually come in batches of three, what I do when I get them from the store is prepare them all and freeze the extra, that way you always have them ready to use for your next leek dish, that is if your not planning on using all of them at once!;)…
Pesto Rapini Potato Salad
I had my cousins over for dinner tonight and I made a delicious homemade spaghetti sauce served with spaghetti, of course. I was in need for a side dish, I had some rapini but not enough to feed two families with! I needed to ‘bulk’ it up a bit! Since I was craving potato salad today and was planning on making rapini, I came up with this delicious salad.
I get this pesto sauce from an Italian delicatessen, it’s called ‘Berni’ Pesto al Basilico. I only mention it so that I don’t forget the name of it (I have a bad memory), it is made in Italy and it tastes so good! Of course nothing beats homemade pesto, but I like to keep a jar of this stuff for an easy dinner or side dish starter….
