Kataifi with walnuts was one of my favourite desserts growing up, and in fact when I was pregnant with my youngest it was one of my cravings, not such a good craving to have since it is so sweet. Kataif is shredded filo and can be used in many different kinds desserts. This is how my family makes it, so I am sharing my version of kataif with walnuts with you. …

Revani with a Holiday Twist
I made revani with what I like to call a holiday twist! The addition of cocoa and pomegranates makes it look festive and pretty! You can garnish with ground pistachios as well, I just happened to forget too do it this time;)…

Now this is what I call a Holiday feast!…
Pie Crust
My grandma Ruby is or was at her time the best pie maker in town, her pies were known around the county. She made them at the restaurants that my grandparents owned and ran with their kids including my mom, they had more than one restaurant and in different counties. She made a variety of pies on a daily basis.
She taught me how to make pies when I was younger, she uses shortening in her pies , I do at times but I mostly use butter, I sometimes even add coconut oil…I am not afraid to experiment with pie crust or fillings for that matter. It’s all in the technique, once you get that down you will become a pie making expert! I share two different recipes on this post, both are great. You can try either or both and see which you like best. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!…
Pumpkin Pie
It’s pumpkin season! One of my children’s favourite dessert is pumpkin pie. I craved it with all three pregnancies, it’s no wonder they love pumpkin pie so much. It was a childhood favourite of mine as well, my cousins and I could eat a whole pie on our own, and we did many times! …
Pumpkin Cake
I really wanted to make a pumpkin cake…one problem I didn’t feel like baking the pumpkin…peeling and pureeing it just for a cake (lazy day)……
Turtle Pumpkin Pie
My oh my it’s my favourite turtle pumpkin pie! I love this no bake pie! Making it all from scratch makes it tastes so much better, but takes a lot of time and effort! What ever you do, allow your self time by preparing ahead. Since its made from scratch, it has to cook and therefore needs cooling time.

Cinnamon Twists
I had left over pizza dough, I normally don’t add much salt in my dough, so I got away with making these! I took some of the dough, rolled it out 1/4 inch thick, and the size of a small/medium pizza. I tried my best to shape it into a square rather than circle shape….
Dutch Apple Pie
My mom lived in Holland for 7 years and 7 years in Sweden as a kid, and while she lived there she learned how to make Dutch apple pie. In Sweden they don’t use crust, its more like apple crisp here in North America, and that is just how she has always made it, without crust. I actually prefer that way, but at times I like to make a crust, I share the recipe for the crust in the bottom of the post.
I don’t think I can never make mine like hers, no matter how many times I try…but that doesn’t stop me from making it!!:) Even though she says mine taste just like hers, I will always like hers better!:) Is there a recipe that you make that you think your mom or someone else makes better?
