My kids love Imam bayildi, and I love making it for them. I wasn’t feeling that well today, but dinner still needs to get on the table whether I am feeling good or not! Since I promised that I would make it today, I made it the easy way! …

Homemade Manti
For our anniversary I surprised my hubby with homemade manti. I have always made them with wonton wraps as I was terribly intimated by making them from scratch…wonton wraps are just easier and take less time. After making the dough, it’s not as bad as I thought! Sure it’s extra effort but well worth it, I will be making manti like this from now on!…
Layered Imam Bayildi with Kiyma
Imam bayildi literally means ‘the Imam fainted’ there are few folklore stories that are about this. The story I grew up with was when this man the Imam, first tried this dish he fainted as it was so good! This is my grandmas recipe, growing up it was the only thing I would eat with eggplant. I added some of the seasonings, but she taught me how to make it.
This is my daughters favourite dish, my husband loves it too. This time it was extra special as all the veggies used in this dish came from my garden! Including my homemade-tomato-sauce. You can fry the eggplant, or bake them which ever you prefer. …
Turkish Goulash
This is a dish my friend Candan introduced me to, its Turkish style goulash! Its really simple to make and doesn’t take much effort especially if you make it in a crock pot like me:)…
Mediterranean Roasted Lamb
Roasted lamb is usually made on special occasions in our family, my hubby is not a big fan of lamb, personally I prefer lamb over beef!
My son loves lamb, my girls like it too! At least when I make roast lamb for dinner I know that I will not be eating alone! …
Flank Steak
One of my favourite steaks is flank steak! Flank steak can be tough but if marinated long enough it will become tender, don’t forget to always cut across the grain!…
Homemade Flat Bread Wraps
I like to call this lazy lakror! I’ll tell you why….Lakror is an Albanian style pizza that is made with many thin buttered layers of dough, takes a lot of effort and upper arm strength! My mom is a pro at it…..me not so much…I have made it a couple times but I prefer filo as that is straight out of the freezer!
I love the taste of meat filled lakror but too lazy to make it! This is like a soft taco with an Albanian twist! There is something similar to this in Turkish cuisine called lahmacun but the meat is spread on the bread and cooked or left raw, I do enjoy making it that way as well! Both are delicious!
If you choose to spread the raw meat mixture on first, you can use store bought pita or homemade, cook meat side down on pan or grill or you can steam cook it, that is what I do, I don’t like raw meat….
Lamb Stew
My sons dinner request tonight…lamb stew! The whole family loves this dish, especially when prepared this way…if you don’t have a cooking clay pot you can use a dutch pot, or something that is thick and heavy duty. You may also use a Crock pot, all you have to do is prepare it the same way, then add ingredients to the pot, add some water set it and leave it!:)
First I sauté the peppers and meat, too seal in the flavours then transfer to the oven….
Roast Beef Dinner
A simple comforting dinner just like grandma used to make. Actually, grandma taught me how to make roast beef. You can make it in the oven or in the slow cooker; both ways are delicious so long as you follow the first steps.
