I made this cake a few years ago it was my first layered cake, and decorating with fondant and using candy melts . I wanted to make a princess castle, and as I was still new to baking and learning the skills on my own, it turned out pretty good actually (for a beginner).
It was a lot of work….the bottom layer is 2 layers of chocolate and one vanilla, and then another layer of vanilla , the top is chocolate. All the cakes were made from scratch and so was the buttercream…it took forever to bake and decorate…but it was worth it in the end!
The towers are made from ice cream cones, dipped in melted candy melts and for the top parts I fancied them up with coloured sugar. I used yogurt covered almonds on the ends and attached them with frosting, it helped as a weight to prevent the towers from falling. I piped out vines and little purple flowers on them, for a special touch!
I made the windows, crown and door from fondant.
The roses are made from royal icing and I used gold paper for the leaves. If you have any questions please ask!
This is beautiful. I am researching making a castle cake ans am quite nervous.
