My mom and Aunt Angela used to make this really delicious apple cake when I was a kid, neither of them have the recipe now. I searched online and no luck of finding a recipe that comes close to it. I remember making it as well, following my moms recipe, I wish now that I saved it. Once many years ago I was craving it, so I made it with a golden cake mix, it turned out really good. This time I was looking for a different flavour so I used butter pecan.
What you will need:
1 box of butter pecan cake mix*
3 apples
1 tbsp maple syrup
For Glaze:
1/2 cup icing or powdered sugar
1 tsp maple syrup
2-3 tsp cream
Peel, core and cut apples and cut into bite size pieces. Prepare cake mix as directed on box, and add in 1 tablespoon maple syrup. Mix apples into the batter. Pour into a greased 9×13 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
In a bowl stir the icing sugar, maple syrup and cream.
Drizzle over baked cake. Enjoy!
You can top with pecans if you like, or add coarsely chopped pecans to the batter as well.
*If you cannot find butter pecan flavoured cake mix, you may use golden or butter golden.
It looks wonderful esp with the amazing top, loving it. Your pictures are great to enhance the beauty of your cozy apple cake.
