Since I am on a restricted diet for the time being, I have been looking for creative and delicious treats. While my family enjoys regular ice cream and sundaes I was feeling left out, I wanna enjoy a cone too! I cannot have sugar, or dairy at the moment so this fruit ice cream maker is just perfect for me!
Yes you need a frozen dessert maker such as a Yonanas for this, I have heard others say that you can get the same results using a Vitamix or really good blender, I do have a Ninja but haven’t tried it out yet….if anyone of you have tried making banana type ice cream with a mixer or blender please let me know if it really works. I get questions about that all the time, and I really don’t know if it works.
When you make banana type ice cream, the bananas must be frozen for 24 hours, and the bananas must not be ripe or under-ripe, they should have some spots like cheetah spots, it makes the perfect texture. I once used ripe frozen bananas and it ruined the ice cream, it was so mushy. Oh and peel the bananas and freeze them in a freezer bag or container, I forgot to peel them once, it was messy.
I freeze berries and I really don’t measure, I just grab them from the bag with my hand, you can always use more.
What you will need:
- 2 frozen bananas
- handful of frozen strawberries
- handful of frozen blueberries
- handful of frozen blackberries
- handful of frozen raspberries
- handful of frozen sweet cherries
Thaw fruits for 10 minutes, no longer than that. Combine the berries and cherries. Start with a banana, add in the mixed fruit and end with the banana.
You can enjoy with a cone or in a bowl, its so creamy and delicious 🙂
This velvety ice cream looks heavenly! Great that it’s light in calories unlike regular ice cream.
